Winter Fuel payments: Get advice from the experts!
Age Scotland Orkney and the Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) are teaming up to support older folk in Orkney who could be affected by the changes to winter fuel payments.
The organisations will be in Shapinsay on Monday (October 7) as part of the day’s Community Café event, due to be held in the Shapinsay Clubrooms & Music Room between 1pm – 4pm.
They will be able to give advice to anyone who is concerned about the changes.
The payments are becoming means-tested, so some folk receiving some benefits may still be able to get the money.
Speaking to BBC Radio Orkney last week, the chief executive of Age Scotland Orkney, Gillian Skuse said Orkney “has the lowest number of older people claiming benefits” despite the county’s high energy costs.
So, it may be well worth your time speaking to the representatives from the two organisations when they visit the island on Monday.
