I am delighted that after a delay in getting spare parts due to weather, we have now got all the defibs back in their cabinets. I thought it would be a great chance to update you all on where they are located. There’s one in the north end at the North School located on the building nearest the road, one towards the east side at Newfield Cottage, located on the shed at the roadside…

Football coaching opportunity

We’ve been asked to share this opportunity – we’ve really struggled to get football coaches over from the mainland as they are just so busy, so if someone on the island was willing, it would be great to get someone trained to coach!

Fast track to hairdresssing

We’ve been asked to share the info for this course for anyone who is eligible: This is a 6-week course targeted towards parents within the 6 priority family groups ( young parents – under 25, lone parents, parents with more than three children, parents with a child under one, minority ethic parents or parents who have a disability or a child with a disability) who have lower household incomes.

Anyone interested in taking part in a photography workshop?

We are working with Orkney Camera club to do a photography workshop on Shapinsay. This would be on a Saturday between now and mid-march and would be some indoor, some outdoor with some help to understand your camera, focus and composition and what makes a good photo. Smart phones can be used, so no need to own a fancy camera – but if you have a camera, bring it too! Who would be interested?
